Abstract (English):
Syntactic maturity in schoolchildren with speech disorders remains an understudied issue. This research featured middle school students (grades 5–6, Russian education system) with general speech underdevelopment that proved resistant to corrective action. The participants followed a basic general curriculum adapted for students with severe speech impairments. The authors developed and tested an algorithm for speech therapy examination of syntactic competencies at the sentence level. The diagnostic criteria were based on the content characteristics of syntactic skills within syntactic competence. The article describes the stages of the experiment and gives a brief analysis of the results obtained. The analysis revealed some problematic components of syntactic competence in teenagers with resistant speech impairments. The diagnostic pattern and the interpretation method may help to develop a unified system of correctional speech therapy aimed at improving syntactic skills in children with severe speech disorders.
